Just Us Girls - Valentine's with Video

Hello Everyone!

What a wonderful day today because I am here for my first of four Guest Designer spots for the fabulous challenge blog Just Us Girls! The very talented design team voted me Designer of the Month for December, so I will be joining them for the next four Saturday's. I do hope you will drop in us and say howdy-do!!

For the first challenge of the month, the theme is VALENTINE. I decided to do a vintage / shabby chic / mixed media card, AND I decided to video it, so you can see how I put it together.

Here is the video for you, if you care to take a peek. I took some advice from my lovely followers and have tried to slow in down during the reveal spots. I hope it works better now. I love the feedback ladies, keep it coming!

UPDATE:
My card won an award in the following wonderful challenge:

***

So I took me another nightly stroll on the only night last week that had a tiny bit of snow. It didn't snow for long, but it snowed fairly hard, so I got some good 'action' shots. It was pretty, but it didn't last long and by the time I got back to the house, it was already melting. sad face.

I thought I would balance out the sad news about Brenda's tail, with some happy news about my friend Barry. When Barry first started coming to me he had a 'bare' strip down his back and several patches of missing fur all over his body and tail. It was much worse than in these pictures, I only took these a few weeks ago, but I think you get the idea.

And here's the image that makes me smile...Barry's fur has almost all grown back in now and he seems a little better in spirit as well. He has taken to hanging off the screen to eat his peanuts because he's safe from all the other squirrels there. Then when he's ready for another tidbit, he just swings on over and grabs one from my hand...freaking hilarious!

Nope, you're not seeing double. There are now TWO strips of carpet on the railings. We had a near miss the other day during a traffic jam, when poor Max almost took a swan dive off the balcony to try and get away from Hank the Hobo (he's a real bully). So  I put up a second strip of carpet. This is now a two lane highway folks, there'll be no accidents on my watch!!! Everybody veer left please!!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  28. Sweet squirrel story with a happy ending! Hi, Pamellia! Such a pleasure visiting you this morning. Beautiful card, and I very much enjoyed your youtube showing how it was created. I had not considered coloring my cheese cloth! (what a duh moment!) and I like how you used the flat lacy fibers crinkled up on the tape! I learn so much from you - and hope to use the techniques. Sometimes I just plain forget and other times I'm probably overthinking the design. Gorgeous card - especially with the cut out heart and sentiment! hugs, de

  61. Another beautiful Valentine! I just wanted to pop in to see, but I've got to come back for the video, where I can really see this from a construction point of view-my favorite! But for now, I'm just ooohing and aaahhing over the soft colors and all that lovely shabbiness!

Barry is fluffing up nicely, and oh, my is he the gymnast! Love the snowy photos, especially the action shot (# 2)! Thank you for sharing...it just may be the only way I get to see falling snow this year, aside from the weather channel! We got tons of rain yesterday with temps just at freezing and wind that would swipe the toupe' right off your head, so it was just miserable, not pretty.

I'll be back with coffee for the show! Big hugs!

  63. Gracious - one a week for JUST US GIRLS on top of everything else you are doing.... HOW DO YOU DO IT girl?!!!! You are truly THE BEST. Everything you touch is amazing... and I am so blessed to watch you too. Your tutorial for this card was just WONDERFUL to watch... so much so that I had to see it more than once - dear me! And this card is just gorgeous. I loved those little sticker stencils - fun! But it's all the techniques that you know that just always blows me away. And how you know just exactly what to put where... so amazing.

And Barry's story... seriously wonderful to read about him. I hope you are printing these stories and saving them because they could make a book someday. His fur looks so wonderful now that you are mothering him. It's obvious he is in love with you for sure! Love your pictures of him as well as of your walks. I admire you for walking on these cold days... I would be soooo frozen!!! X j.
